Christmas Greetings from Hauke

Christmas Greetings from Hauke

Hauke, who served at AFC as our Time for God volunteer, shares with us some Christmas news from his family's farm in Germany.

Interestingly, this year the Christmas service was held on our farm. Because of Covid, many churches decided to hold the service outside. The weather wasn’t particularly delightful (5 °C and drizzle), but still, it was a “a good telling of Gods story”. A surprising number of people showed up and the Covid-guidelines wouldn’t really have allowed for more. I took a little inspiration from my time in Amersham and used the projector to show the lyrics of the hymns on the left side of the house. Instead of a church organ, we decided to be a little humbler and bought an electric keyboard (which Wiebke was able to use to its fullest potential). Our pastor reminded us with a nice and funny story, that Christmas isn’t only about the gifts we give each other, but above all about love, caring and the gift that God has given us. After the service, we had our traditional Christmas meal followed by a lot of singing and the sharing of presents.
